Q) So, Sports Therapists only see those injured playing sport?
A) No, that’s not the case. Whilst Sports Therapists are trained in the treatment and management of sports injuries, they are also able to deal with injuries caused by non-sporting causes, for instance injuries at work or other leisure activities.

Q) But do you only deal with those of a sporting age?
A) No! What is a sporting age? There are many people who participate in sport or other activities at all ages and Sports Therapy can help those of all ages, whether it’s for injury treatment or to help with activities of daily living giving more confidence to everyone.

Q) Is it all just injuries you work on?
A) No through assessment, discussion and use of evidence-based practice I can also help you work towards improving your sporting performance by working on areas that can be improved.

Q) Isn’t it all exercise?
A) I mainly use exercise as a way of treating injuries because that has best evidence to support its use, but there are other modalities used as part of the treatment process such as soft tissue work and NMES depending on your injury or issue and after discussion with you as to the best way forward together. The aim is to empower you to help yourself and get you back to sport, your favourite activity or walking the dog!

Q) What happens if I need extra help?
A) After a full consultation and assessment, we can discuss your needs and way forward. If that includes referrals to other health care professionals for extra scans or assistance then referrals can be made with a full reason for needs.

Q) Will I have to do all the rehabilitation programmes on my own?
A) Exercises programmes can be given to help you rehabilitate and return to fitness, work, or daily activities, but if you find that you would be better taken through your programme then we have the resources on site to help you with that and that can be booked as required.

Q) Can I just walk in for an appointment?
A) No, all appointments must be booked beforehand to enable us to ensure we have enough time to prepare the treatment room or other facilities needed to ensure treatments are safe including cleaning in between clients and adequate time is allowed for each treatment.
